PROJECT NAME; MBUYURA COAL PROJECT (Mbinga District, Ruvuma Region)
MINERAL PROVINCE; MBUYURA COAL FIELD
TIMEFRAME; September, 2024 – March, 2025
CURRENT PROJECT STATUS; SUBMITED
PROJECT IMPLEMENTS;
At the Mbuyura Coal Project under Aria Commodities, the first stage involved detailed geological mapping, where comprehensive maps were produced to identify structures, stratigraphy, and the orientation of coal seams. This step helped outline target zones with higher mineralization potential and guided the drilling grid design. Following this, scout and resource drilling was conducted to confirm the presence and thickness of the seams, with early data providing better definition of subsurface continuity.
The drilling program was followed by geotechnical and lithological logging, where rock samples were recorded to analyze quality, geomechanical characteristics, and lithological variations in the boreholes. The collected data directly supported resource estimation, a crucial stage in calculating the quantity of coal based on seam distribution, thickness, and quality. Together, these steps laid the foundation for economic evaluation and the project’s forward planning.
